Through the Viewfinder
I have a new addiction. It's called TtV. TtV stands for "Through the Viewfinder" and is a photographic technique that gives your photos a very old, vintage style look. I always thought i was an effect created with photoshop or with those really antique cameras, but i recently discovered how to do it. You take a digital camera and take a picture through the viewfinder of a vintage or antique camera, in my case a Kodak Cresta III. My original plan was to take pictures with the Cresta, but it's too complicated for an amateur like me (don't know where to get the right film, can't develop the photo's myself etc). And if i would take real pictures with that camera they probably won't have that nice TtV effect anyway, and that's what i was interested in, in the first place. Here are my first TtV's, but have a look a the the Flickr Group for the best TtV's from other photographers.

The addiction I totally understand. Go for it!
that's gorgeous - i have to remember that (kan dit eigenlijk ook wel in 't nederlands zeggen he :) Maar t engels is zo een gewoonte geworden *lol*)
They really look "old pictures" - amazing technique and yes, this can be addictive ;)
They turned out great! I love TtV too and bought an old camera to try it. I haven't managed to figure it out properly yet.
Experimenting is so much fun. Enjoy the new treasure!
i've never seen nor heard of this before. so cool. i really love the way they turn out...especially the makeup one. what a neat effect. funny it takes all this technology to recreate something long past...
Oh I love that technique! Your wedding couple pic is really great!
Smiles, Karen
Wow, I loved the viewmaster as a kid - still do actually - and these pictures are sublime! :)
Thanks for the comments! I've only tried this at home, buti'd love to do some action shots outside on the street. I'm just have to think of a way not to look like an idiot shooting pictures with two cameras, it looks a bit silly! Artmind, i loved viewmaster too! You just gave me an idea :)
Wow, these pictures are lovely - the technique sounds really interesting.
Love the last one!
I am going to try this!
